Help!

Post by Jane (JW) » Sun Mar 29, 2009 8:16 pm

Hi, Just a quick question to anybody who knows more than me about computers!!!!

I had a dodgy mouse on the grandchildrens' computer so bought a new one at Asda. It just said plug into usb and it will work - which it did. However, now the keyboard wont work. Do you think this is just coincidence or is it something to do with new mouse. Thought I could try old one again, to see if keyboard works with that, but I have slung it out and it has gone.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated - before I go and buy another keyboard.

Thanks.

Hi

You don't say if the keyboard is PS2 or USB so................
If the keyboard is USB:-
  • Unplug the keyboard and plug the new mouse into the same socket
Plug the keyboard into an empty USB socket
    Reboot the computer
The keyboard and mouse should both work

If the keyboard is NOT USB
  • Unplug the mouse and reboot the computer
Check the keyboard works - If it doesn't then the keyboard is US - get a new one
    If it does work....
Plug the mouse into a different USB socket
Both the keyboard and mouse should work
Hope this helps

Bob
