Changing your default outgoing email address

At the moment when i press on a clickable email address (for competition sites when you email answers) - it automatically uses outlook - can i change this to make Gmail my default address?

Try using IE7 (available for a free download at microsoft....don't use anywhere else because of potential security issues!!

).....it seems to pick up gmail as an option for sending emails from........the alternative is to make Gmail your default email client in Outlook/Express.....you will still have the annoyance of Outlook opening, but at least you will be able to use your gmail account!!

Have just downloaded IE7 and when i go to tools and programs, it doesnt give me gmail as an option only something new called windows live mail

Hmmm....perhaps it was the new version of Avant Browser that does it then......brief recap.... Avant is essentially an add-on to Internet Explorer (essentially its IE with a number of improved tools!!).....I know if I click on a link I now go straight to gmail on my browser, as opposed to Outlook opening up. If I remember whether I changed any settings I'll let you know (terminal amnesia now set in!!

The default program setting needs to be altered.

What you need to do is to change the setting in Tools > Internet Options - Programs Tab to the required program you wish to use.
