I think that if you haven't changed the default settings, the emails should be backed up at the following location

C:\Documents and Settings\julie\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst

I'm not 100% sure about how to retrieve them from this file as i don't use outlook for emails, but this is the best i can think of. ill do some research to see if theres any other solutions to the matter. have you checked the recycle bin?

There is a recycle bin on outlook called deleted items, they might be in there.

I have heard that a great program to use instead of outlook express is incredimail.

If you decide to get incredimail, i can post you on how to set up email settings for POP3 etc.

Don't know if this will help or not but if you go into Outlook and then click on Edit
you can scroll down to Empty deleted items. You don't want to delete them but there must be a way to retrieve them if they are there.

Sorry, a better suggestion is to go into your inbox. Then click on inbox at the top left to get your other folders etc. You will have one headed deleted items, and you should be able to click on anything you still want in there.
Hope this helps. :)
