Cookies HELP

I'm having to clear my cookies continuously to be able to log in anywhere.
I keep getting cached pages up as well.

Some sites won't let me log in at all. I don't know what to do.

I've just scanned with panda and also counter spy and nothing's coming up.

Having to clear cookies before every log in now. Can't get into gmail at all.

Behind with comps, tired, fed up.

Problems getting worse. Can't log into loads of sites and getting worse all the time.

Ran AVG last night, definitely no viruses or spyware.

Having to log in nearly every website now, wonder if something to do with memory? (Not ours!)

No, I'm with Orange. It's very strange. Going to try and clean up everything, see if that helps.

It sounds like your 'cookies enabled' preference might be wrong ..

Cookies have to be 'enabled' to store log in info etc ... I have some web sites I visit that seem to 'shut down*' this choice and I need to reboot to activate it again

*Sorry too early in the morning for me to explain that any better

There is some good advice on this link about checking whether cookies are enabled or not ..

We need to get this problem sorted tonight as I go into hospital tomorrow for another op, on my left hand this time and I don't do so well with computers one handed.

Just a touch of theory first - Windows XP Service Pack 1 (Please say you are on XP and not on Vista) by default allows cookies but Microsoft (Bless them) have decided that sneaked in the updates they would turn all that off. They have done it by making the default level of security Medium High instead of the old default which was just Medium.

Getting back to the default isn't difficult and may solve this problem.

Open Internet Explorer
Go to Tools > Internet Options
Click on the Security Tab
Click on The Internet Icon
Change the security level to Medium
Click apply
Click on the Trusted Sites Icon
Change the security level to Medium
Click on apply
Click OK

If this doesn't work there is one other way of working that may just convert you to a faster way of working
Download and install the Safari Browser from Apple http://www.apple.com/safari/

It is a lot faster then Internet Explorer, runs smoother, doesn't have all the security holes so beloved of hackers and so doesn't have so much security to work around. I am writing this in Safari so I can say it works just fine and I don't need to login everytime I come to the forum.
